UW Wyoming APEX Accelerator Clients Invited to Attend Fraud Awareness Webinar Sept. 24

Small-business owners can learn about fraud in government contracting Tuesday, Sept. 24.

Various speakers will lead a Colorado APEX Accelerator webinar titled "Government Contract Virtual Training: Fraud Awareness" from 2-4 p.m. The webinar is open to Wyoming APEX Accelerator clients and federal employees. To register, go here. Registration is free.

Wyoming APEX Accelerator, part of the Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network housed at the University of Wyoming, is the state's expert in government contracting assistance.

The federal government loses about $30 billion annually in fraud. Federal law enforcement agents from the General Services Administration, the Department of Defense and other federal agencies will help small-business owners identify, avoid and, if necessary, report any fraud they may encounter as government contractors.

During the webinar, topics to be covered include product substitution, kickbacks, bribery, collusion and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise certification fraud.

For more information, call Tyler Schanck, marketing, communications and database manager for the Wyoming SBDC Network, at (307) 343-0925 or email [email protected].

The Wyoming SBDC Network offers business expertise to help Wyoming residents think about, launch, grow, reinvent or exit their business. The Wyoming SBDC Network is hosted by UW with state funds from the Wyoming Business Council and funded, in part, through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration.
