Mayor Ted Wheeler, Community Safety Deputy City Administrator Mike Myers, representatives from Portland Police, and Portland Solutions met today with Lan Su Chinese Garden leadership to gain community input on an action plan to help address ongoing public safety and livability issues in the area.

"Lan Su is an incredibly important place in our community, and we are committed to doing all we can to support its prosperity," Mayor Wheeler said during the meeting. "The community's input is critical to helping us find the best path forward together and much more is needed to achieve the lasting vibrancy we all want to see."

In recent weeks, the City of Portland has prioritized increasing safety and cleanliness in Old Town and around the garden. Security has been increased via private contracts and increased police patrols, fencing has been added and additional street cleaning has been conducted. Additional actions are forthcoming and outlined in the Action Plan.
