Brown Announces New Investments for Airport Improvements in Central Ohio

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced three investments totaling $8,966,459 for improvements at three airports in Central Ohio.

"Ohio airports are vital infrastructure supporting travel and commerce in our state," Brown said. "These investments will enhance safety and operations at Central Ohio airports and improve travel for Ohio families and businesses."

The Department of Transportation's Federal Aviation Administration has awarded the investments through the Airport Improvement Program. The projects include:

  • $5,896,947 to the Rickenbacker International Airport in Columbus to help reconstruct 29,533 square yards of the existing Apron #3 pavement that has reached the end of its useful life.
  • $2,552,990 to the Ross County Airport to rehabilitate 5,405 feet of existing paved runway to maintain the structural integrity and minimize debris to extend its useful life, and to construct a blast pad.
  • $516,522 to the Pickaway County Airport to help construct a new 16,000 square foot hangar for aircraft storage.
