Brown Announces New Investments for Airport Improvements in Southeast Ohio

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced three investments totaling $3,290,768 for improvements at three airports in Southeast Ohio.

"Ohio airports are vital infrastructure supporting travel and commerce in our state," Brown said. "These investments will enhance safety and operations at Southeast Ohio airports and improve travel for Ohio families and businesses."

The Department of Transportation's Federal Aviation Administration has awarded the investments through the Airport Improvement Program. The projects include:

  • $1,525,817 to the Lawrence County Airpark to help reconstruct 9,000 square yards of the existing General Aviation Apron pavement that has reached the end of its useful life.
  • $1,333,730 to the Jefferson County Airpark to install 14,810 feet of fencing and gates to enhance safety.
  • $304,681 to the Barnesville-Bradfield Airport to help reconstruct 220 feet of the existing airport hangar access road that has reached the end of its useful life, rehabilitate 1,100 square yards of the existing terminal Apron pavement to maintain the structural integrity of the pavement, and to shift existing paved parallel Taxiway A by 50 feet to bring the airport into conformity with current standards.
