New crosswalk at bottom of Lanfear Hill

Work is underway to install a new crosswalk at the bottom of Lanfear Hill. In addition to the crossing, we are making several other improvements to make this section of the road, between the Howe Creek Trails, safer for pedestrians and drivers.

• Speed detection radar to slow approaching vehicles; will remind drivers this is a 40km/hr speed zone
• 'Flashers' to caution motorists nearing the crosswalk
• Limbing trees in the area to improve sightlines (complete)
• Concrete barriers on both sides of the road

This work will take a couple weeks to complete and traffic control will be in place on Thursday, November 7. Drivers travelling between McConnell Avenue and Pheasant Avenue can expect some delays.

Please note this crossing may be altered or modified during future road work and projects planned for this area. In the meantime, pedestrians should still use caution. Stop at the crosswalk and make eye contact with motorists before crossing the road.
