Food Insecurity and Rural Health Examined at Mayo Clinic Health System Rural Healthcare Symposium

Earlier this week, Hormel Foods CEO Jim Snee represented Hormel Foods at Mayo Clinic Health System's Rural Healthcare Symposium, where he showcased our company's commitment to improving food insecurity.
This two-day conference brought together healthcare leaders, providers, administrators, researchers and educators to discuss critical issues impacting the health of rural populations, including the critical issue of food insecurity.
Snee, his wife Tammy Snee and Dr. Craig Gundersen, a Professor with the Department of Economics at Baylor University, took the stage to discuss the Hometown Food Security Project (HFSP) and the power of partnerships in tackling food insecurity. Launched in 2022 by Hormel Foods in partnership with the United Way of Mower County, HFSP is a cross-sector coalition aimed at addressing the critical issue of food insecurity. "We can always write a check, but that's not who we are as an organization. We want to roll up our sleeves and do the work," Snee said at the event. They discussed Hormel Foods' hands-on approach to philanthropy and the importance of collaborating for lasting change.

Snee also participated in a panel on the role of collaboration in building healthy rural communities, calling on healthcare providers, businesses, and organizations to work together toward meaningful solutions.
