Homicide Investigation

On June 27, 2024, at approximately 12:35 a.m., Pueblo Police responded to the 200 block of South Portland Avenue on shots fired via a ShotSpotter notification. A short time later police received information that a victim from the shots fired incident was at the intersection of East 5^th Street and Reading Avenue. Police found an adult female victim near the intersection with an apparent gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to an area hospital with life threatening injuries. The victim was later declared deceased at the hospital. Pueblo Police crimes against persons detectives and crime scene investigations units are investigating this death as a homicide investigation.

This is an active and ongoing investigation, and updates will be provided to the public as more information becomes available.

The victim in this incident will be identified by the Pueblo County Coroner after appropriate notifications. The Coroner's Office will determine the cause and manner of death. This is the 13^th homicide in Pueblo in 2024.
