330,000 people visit Špancirfest street festival in 10 days

The 26th Špancirfest street festival in Varaždin concluded on Sunday evening, with an estimated 330,000 people visiting it over its ten-day duration.

One of Croatia's longest-running summer events, this year's Špancirfest offered visitors more than 500 different programmes, including 200 musical and 80 street performances across five squares and the streets of the old town centre.

Jelena Toth, director of the Varaždin Tourist Board, told Hina they did not yet have the official visitor count, she believed it was at least as high as last year, around 330,000.

"What we do know for sure is that the Baby Lasagna concert, with 25,000 attendees, was the most attended concert not only at this year's Špancirfest but in general," she said. "As organisers, we can indeed be satisfied. Some programmes even exceeded our expectations in terms of attendance."

This year, too, Špancirfest was also visited by several politicians, including President Zoran Milanović, Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, Tourism Minister Tonči Glavina, and Construction Minister Branko Bačić.
