Nashville Man Killed in Wednesday Afternoon Two-Car Crash in South Nashville

Wednesday afternoon's two-car collision at the intersection of Old Hickory Boulevard and Barnes Road killed one of the drivers.

The preliminary investigation shows that a Nissan Altima was traveling south on Old Hickory Boulevard at a high rate of speed when it ran the stop sign at Barnes Road and was struck in the passenger side by a Dodge Dart that was traveling east on Barnes Road. The Dodge stopped for a stop sign before entering the intersection.

The Nissan, driven by Timothy Vetitoe, 47, of Nashville, traveled into a field, rolled, and came to rest on the driver's side. Vetitoe was not wearing a seatbelt. He died at the scene. The 26-year-old driver of the Dodge was not seriously hurt.
