Live In Caretaker Sentenced for Murder of 75 Year Old

July 15, 2024, Peoria, IL- Today, Dmitri G. Rogatchev, 46, was sentenced to 60 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections by Judge John Vespa for killing Sandra Jackson, 75, in December 2019 in her home. Rogatchev was Sandra's live-in caretaker, and on the night of the murder, he became frustrated with Sandra because she had the television on too loud. While arguing over the noise, Rogatchev became enraged and hit and kicked Sandra, ultimately causing a fatal brain injury.

Rogatchev was convicted in a Jury Trial earlier this year. Per statute, he will have to serve 100% of his sentence.
