Statement by ACE President Ted Mitchell on John J. DeGioia Becoming President Emeritus of Georgetown University

​"John J. DeGioia is a gracious giant of the higher education landscape. For nearly a quarter century, Jack has served as president of Georgetown University with distinction, empathy, and humor. Jack's leadership, commitment, and vision have been an extraordinary benefit to his students, his institution and surrounding community, and all of American higher education.

Among the seemingly limitless outlets for Jack's energy and dedication has been ACE, which Jack helped steer as a past Board chair. On a personal note, I am fortunate to have been the recipient many times over the years of Jack's wise counsel. I am confident that while Jack is leaving his role as president and those day-to-day duties, he will remain a vibrant resource for all of us in higher education as he enters a new chapter as Georgetown president emeritus and continues in his role as a faculty member."
