Christina Ricci on Working with Cher on Her First Film Set

Drew: You talk about this in the documentary, but I loved your relationship the way you spoke about it with Cher.

Christina: She's the best. Honestly, every good thing you believe about Cher is true. I it's really incredible. I mean, she was just so wonderful and I was nine and I had never been on a film set before. I'd never, you know, I was from like a town in New Jersey and she took the time to explain everything to me. I remember once saying, she had to cry in a scene and she was doing the whole thing and she had headphones on and I was like, 'How do you make yourself cry?' And she explained her process to me. Took the time on a day with that much, like as actresses.

We know the day you have to cry. There's a lot of pressure, there's a lot of weight. You don't wanna talk to anyone, blah, blah. And she took the time to take her headphones off and just be like, well, here's what I do. She was really amazing.

Drew: Is it possible to dare to ask a question about 'Yellowjackets' season three? Because it's comes to girls. That is the ultimate fierce girl party. When is season three? When can we get our teeth into it?

Christina: They haven't officially released the date, the release date but it will be shortly after the new year.

Drew: So you filmed it.

Christina: Yeah we're done. We wrapped about a month ago.

Drew: You have a 10-year-old and, and an almost three year old

Christina: And an almost three-year-old. It's very complicated at this parenthood. It's really, and it's so interesting and my kids are of such disparate ages. They need such different things and it's just so interesting and dramatic.

Drew: Is it at all different with the, because I had, like, 17 months apart. It was like, boom, boom.

Christina: Are your kids friends?

Drew: Yes. And they still fight. They totally fight. I was an only kid and I've always idealized siblings for some reason.

Christina: And Freddie, you know, he didn't get a sibling until he was seven. So, it's a very different relationship. So, Freddie and Cleo.

Drew: So, what's that like?

Christina: Well, it's interesting. At first he was very excited and then when he realized she was a baby that wasn't gonna do anything, he was just, like, all right, I'm just gonna ignore her, ignore her and try not to be loud because that's the thing I'm getting in trouble for all the time is being loud and then she turned into a feral creature as a toddler and he was just like, she's gonna kick or bite me at any time. Like, who knows which, you know, she's three, almost three. I felt peace a few times in the past couple of years and I felt like, wow. Well, isn't this nice?

Drew: Your back story with tarot is, what did it start on 'Now and Then,' that film that we all love so much.

Christina: Yeah the first time I was exposed to it, there's a scene where we go and Janine Grafa reads, gives us a tarot reading and it was the first time I had seen Tarot and I thought it was so fun and so cool that I remember going to the, like the Barnes and Nobles and going to the Astrology and all sections and not, not that it was in astrology, but it was like right next to it and then Gabby and I would like play around with them and then my whole life, I've just yeah, I just thought it was so fun.

Drew: So can we pick a card, Christina you go first.

Kiki: Oh, so the two of cups, you have like a total meant to be soul, like soulmate connection with someone, whether it's your husband or one of your children or a friend. We'd have to pull 20 more cards to figure out all the back story. But wow, you are really good at those deeper connections with people. If this is all the 78 cards that comes out, this is your card, you have an amazing ability to connect with people, like, on a deeper soul level.

Christina: And what's interesting is I asked a question that was in regards to my son.

Drew: That's the question you went into the deck with?

Christina: I asked a question about my son.

Drew: Do I pick from the top or can I pick from anywhere?

Kiki: Oh, the queen of pinnacles. What she, well, this is you, she you make things smooth, you make things shake. You've got and you are the go to people count on you, you are secure, you are stable.

Drew: This is such a relief.
