The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, is hosting Listen. Learn. Lead. Week Oct. 14-18 to engage the Volunteer community in events focused on understanding different perspectives, learning from the experiences of others and leading with courage. The week is sponsored by the Division of Student Life and the Baker School of Public Policy and Public Affairs in partnership with the Division of Access and Engagement and the Office of the Provost.

The week will kick off with a fireside chat discussing the future of America's international alliances and partnerships on Monday, Oct. 14. Former U.S. Senator Bob Corker, Brookings Institution Vice President and Director of the Foreign Policy program Suzanne Maloney, and the Baker School's Director of the Center for National Security and Foreign Affairs Krista Wiegand will offer their perspectives on America's role in the world. Immediately following, an expert panel will continue the discussion on strategic relationships to execute U.S. foreign policy.

On Wednesday, Oct. 16, UT will host the interactive photography event Dear World. The experience was created to unite people through pictures in a distinct message-on-skin style that addresses the question "If you had one story to share with the world, what would you say?"

A special edition of Rocky Topics discussing dialogue across differences will be hosted on Thursday, Oct. 17. Hosted by the Department of Psychology, the Office of Multicultural Student Life and the Office of the Dean of Students, Rocky Topics was created to give students, faculty and staff the opportunity to explore challenging and timely topics on campus and in the community through open conversation.

Throughout the week, UT Libraries will feature a collections display on the second floor of Hodges Library with print and digital materials related to civil discourse and civic engagement.

Listen. Learn. Lead. Week was established to honor the example set by Howard H. Baker Jr., who served as a U.S. senator from Tennessee from 1967 to 1985 and was known as "the great conciliator." See a full list of events on the campus events calendar.
