Third UT Health Science Center Family Campaign Exceeds Donor Goal

The third Family Campaign reached 765 donors, exceeding its original goal of 700. This also surpasses last year's Family Campaign by 141 donors.

The monthlong campaign, launched September 1, encouraged the UT Health Science Center family to support the university and its mission by donating a financial gift of any size. This year, residents and students were also welcome to consider giving.

Multiple areas of the university reached 100% participation in giving, including the College of Graduate Health Sciences, Office of Advancement, Access and Compliance, Human Resources, the Staff Senate, and the Student Government Association Executive Committee.

In a video message to the university about the campaign, Chancellor Peter Buckley, MD, said, "I am incredibly grateful to each and every one of you for your amazing support during our Family Campaign this past month in September."

"An all-around great effort, not just in one area or one unit, but really across so many of the units. And not just in one campus, proving that we are indeed a statewide and one family," Chancellor Buckley said. "Whether you're in Knoxville, Chattanooga, Nashville, or in Memphis, I want to thank each and every one of you for your giving. It really makes a difference, and you really did a fantastic job."

During the campaign, a breakfast was held in the Student-Alumni Center to celebrate and encourage giving to the university.

Faculty and staff gathered in celebration of the campaign during a campaign breakfast September 17, in the Student-Alumni Center's OD Larry Dining Hall on the Memphis campus. In addition, gatherings were held at the Nashville, Knoxville, and Chattanooga campuses during the campaign.

"Each year we receive gifts from thousands of individuals, and last fiscal year those gifts totaled more than $24 million," said Vice Chancellor for Advancement Brigitte Grant. "As we work with community members, alumni, corporate and foundation leaders, we are asked about the level of investment from those closest to our mission - our employees and our volunteer leaders. Being able to say donations have been made by 100% of our advisory board and more than 750 employees, goes a long way in demonstrating the investment by those so close to the work. Every gift is meaningful and together we are fulfilling Healthy Tennesseans. Thriving Communities."
