Stabbing – Investigation: C24-189646

Released: August 16, 2024 at 9:45 a.m.

On August 15, 2024, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Central District General Patrol officers responded to the 600 block of Main Street for a report of a stabbing call. Members located an adult female suffering from multiple upper-body injuries.

Members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service transported the female victim to the hospital in unstable condition. She was later upgraded to stable condition.

The police determined that the female victim, who is from out of town and visiting family, was walking in the vicinity of the Main Street underpass when an unknown female approached her. They attended a nearby hotel, at which point the female suspect, armed with a knife, assaulted and robbed the female victim of her cell phone.

The Major Crimes Unit was contacted and is continuing with the investigation.
