However, it was one person who ultimately confirmed her decision.

"My sister, Susan Arora, attended Adelphi, obtaining her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science in 2012 and then her master's degree in social work in 2016," Arora said. "My sister's experience solidified for me where I will be going to college."

During her time at Adelphi, Arora honed her leadership skills. She was awarded the President's Student Leadership Award and served as president of her class for three consecutive years, delivering remarks at the 118th Commencement ceremony as a senior. She also founded the South Asian Student Association and was actively involved in several honor societies.

During her undergraduate years, Arora was deeply influenced by Maggie Gray, PhD, associate professor of political science and international relations, a mentor who sparked her passion for political science. "I made sure I enrolled in every class she taught, not only because political science was my major but also due to her exceptional teaching style. Professor Gray's passion for teaching was evident in every lecture she gave," Arora said. This foundational experience not only enriched her understanding of government and society, but it also ignited her interest in law and public service.

"Reflecting on my time there, it was undeniably the best decision for my education and personal growth, and I am honored to be a graduate of such a distinguished university that has played a pivotal role in shaping who I am today," she said about her choice to attend Adelphi.

After receiving her bachelor's degree, Arora attended the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University, where she excelled as a first-year law student by winning the Mock Trial Intramural competition. Her legal career began as an assistant district attorney in the Brooklyn District Attorney's office, where she managed a significant caseload. She later moved to Illinois to work as an assistant state's attorney in Chicago, handling both appellate and trial cases.

Arora eventually decided to transition to a compliance-focused role in the private sector. She joined the Royal Bank of Canada as a capital planning manager before moving to Pall Corporation as compliance counsel and Data Privacy Pivot. In her current role, she oversees legal risk and ensures regulatory compliance for Pall, a global organization. Her most significant professional achievement? This successful transition from public service to compliance, a journey she described as challenging yet rewarding.

Arora is actively involved in volunteer work and dedicates several hours each week to the Science of Spirituality Meditation Center, a nondenominational faith-based nonprofit organization that promotes meditation for its physical, mental and emotional health benefits. She has served as a general director and clinic coordinator of the South Asian Bar Association and volunteers at the Indo-American Center Pro Bono Legal Clinic, which offers free consultation to indigent and low-income families in the city's South Asian and minority communities. Since 2020, she has also served on the Compliance Committee of the New York City Bar Association. Her recognition by Modern Counsel magazine as one of its "35 under 35 Legal Trailblazers" is a testament to her impactful career.

Arora advises new students and graduates to "be open to diverse opportunities and stay persistent and patient. Building a successful career takes time, and networking is crucial. Embrace lifelong learning and contribute to your community-it provides a sense of purpose and fulfillment."

She also shared a piece of advice for navigating life's journey: "Life may often seem like a rat race, but it's important to recognize that each of us has our own unique timeline. Embrace the journey and savor the moments, as success is not just about reaching the finish line but also about enjoying the process along the way."
