SCHNEIDER, LAHOOD SEEK TO REAUTHORIZE FUNDING FOR CAPTAIN JAMES A. LOVELL FEDERAL HEALTH CENTER

WASHINGTON- Rep. Brad Schneider (IL-10) and Rep. Darin LaHood (IL-18) introduced bipartisan legislation to reauthorize funding for the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center. Opened on October 1, 2010, the Lovell Federal Health Care Center is the nation's only fully integrated federal health care facility, combining resources and services from both the United States Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Defense to provide comprehensive care to approximately 75,000 military personnel, veterans and their families each year.

The reauthorization of funding for the Lovell Federal Health Care Center will ensure that the center can continue to provide high-quality medical services, expand its programs and support the health and well-being of veterans and active-duty personnel in Illinois.

"Reauthorizing funding for the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center is essential to maintaining the excellent care provided to our veterans, active-duty service members and their families," said Schneider. "As the only federal health care center of its kind, the Lovell Federal Health Care Center stands as a beacon of our commitment to those who have served our country by offering integrated, comprehensive care in a seamless and supportive environment. I am proud to work with Congressman LaHood on this important legislation to ensure the continued success and growth of this pioneering health care center."

"The Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center (FHCC) is a critical resource for our veteran and active-duty community in Northern Illinois and throughout the Midwest," said LaHood. "Ensuring the continued operation of Lovell FHCC will help maintain the high standard of medical care, including medical and dental service. Lovell FHCC has a significant impact on the local community by providing employment opportunities, advancing medical research, and supporting veterans and military families who reside in the area. I am proud to join Rep. Brad Schneider in this effort to support our servicemen and women in Illinois."
