Las Vegas City Council To Swear In Recently Elected City Council Members
Officials Were Elected In The November General Election
Recently elected City Council members will be sworn in at the Dec. 4, 2024, City Council meeting that will begin at 9 a.m. in Council Chambers on the second floor of City Hall, located at 495 S. Main St.
Mayor-elect Shelley Berkley is scheduled to be sworn in by former Supreme Court Justice Michael Cherry, and Ward 5 Councilwoman-elect Shondra Summers-Armstrong will be sworn in by Eighth Judicial District Court Judge Tierra Jones.
Following the swearing in ceremonies, Ward 3 Councilwoman Olivia Diaz will recognize Jason and Melissa Deadrich as the December Citizens of the Month for their work in the community. Jason serves as the president of the Beverly Green Historic Association.
In addition, Councilwoman Diaz will also recognize the work of Southern Nevada Health District Officer Dr. Fermin Leguen. Dr. Leguen was appointed to the position in January 2021, and helped to lead Southern Nevada through the pandemic. Dr. Leguen plans to retire in February 2025.
The meeting will be broadcast live on cable channel 2, and at www.kclv.tv/live.
Public comment will be available for items on the agenda until 5 p.m. Dec. 3, at www.lasvegasnevada.gov/councilcomment. Those wishing to comment on items on the council agenda are invited to do so online, or to attend the meeting in person and participate in the public comment periods.
