Detectives Investigating After Man Shot in North Seattle

Seattle Police detectives are investigating after a man was shot in North Seattle Friday morning.

At 12:51 a.m., patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting and a woman screaming near North 90th Street and Aurora Avenue North.

Approaching officers heard gunfire and located a male to the east near Nesbit Avenue North suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg.

Officers applied medical treatment to the victim, 24, including a torniquet until the Seattle Fire Department arrived on scene and continued medical. The man was transported to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition.

The victim and another male were reported to have been threatening people with a chainsaw. The circumstances leading up to the shooting are under investigation.

The suspect is believed to have fled in a vehicle and was not located. Officers located multiple shell casings, suspected narcotics, and the chainsaw, and seized them as evidence.

Detectives with the Gun Violence Reduction Unit will take lead on this investigation.
