Officers Arrested Suspect Following an Armed Robbery

At about 8:47 PM, on Monday, July 15, 2024, officers assigned to District D-4 (South End) and Transit Police arrested Jesus Garcia, 58, of Haverhill, on armed robbery charges.

Officers responded to the area of 194 Massachusetts Avenue for a report of an armed robbery in progress. Officers were advised that the suspect gripped his waistband and threatened to shoot the victim. The suspect stole the victim's phone and money and fled towards Boylston Street.

Officers were able to track the phone and with the assistance of Transit Police, they were able to stop the train to check for the suspect. Officers located an individual matching the description in the area of Roxbury Crossing. Officers were able to call the victims phone, and observed the phone in the suspect's possession to be ringing. The victim's cell phone was successfully returned.

Garcia was placed under arrest and charged with Armed Robbery. The suspect also had an active warrant for Unarmed Robbery. He is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
