The Deputy Minister of National Defence Giannis Kefalogiannis represented today, Thursday 21 November 2024, the President of the Hellenic Government in the festivities of the Armed Forces Day, in the presence of Her Excellency the President of the Hellenic Republic Aikaterini Sakellaropoulou.
Mr Kefalogiannisattended the Festive Doxology conducted in the Athens Holy Cathedral and subsequently visited the Hellenic Parliament, in the presence of Her Excellency the President of the Hellenic Republic, the leadership of the Armed and Security Forces, representatives of political parties, the leadership of the Judiciary, the Holy Synod, the Attica Region and the Athens Municipality, where they were received by the Speaker of the Parliament Konstantinos Tasoulas.
Subsequently, he went to the Monument of the Unknown Soldier to observe a wreath-laying by Her Excellency the President of the Hellenic Republic.
He then attended the Armed Forced Exhibition at the site of the Syntagma METRO Station, where he took a tour of the exhibits of operational and training activities.
Other attendees from the military chain of command were the Chief of HNDGS General Dimitrios Choupis, the Chief of HAGS Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis, the Chief of HNGS Vice Admiral Dimitrios-Eleftherios KatarasHN, the Chief of HAFGS Lieutenant General (Pilot) Dimosthenis Grigoriadisand other senior and general officers.
Earlier that morning, Mr Kefalogiannis,accompanied by the Armed Forces Military Leadership, visited the National Operations Centre, where he exchanged wishes with the Centre's personnel. He talked with the Captain of the "ELLI" Frigate, deployed in the Eastern Mediterranean, in the framework of its participation in the Maritime Task Force of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL MTF), the head Officer of the "KALOLIMNOS" Surveillance Outpost at the 80 Higher National Guard Battalions Command (Kos) and the head of the echelon of the READINESS pilots at the 133 Combat Group in Kastelli-Crete, to whom he expressed his gratitude for their remarkable contribution to the Homeland.
