TRAFFIC FATALITY – CARSON STREET AND OSTROM AVENUE

Collision investigation detectives are investigating a traffic collision that occurred on June 4, 2024 which resulted in the death of a male adult motorcyclist.

At approximately 6:09 p.m., officers responded to the intersection ofCarson Street and Ostrom Avenue, regardinga traffic collision.

Long Beach Fire Departmentpersonnel arrived on sceneand provided medical aid. Fire personnel transported the motoristto a local hospital in critical condition.

The preliminary investigation revealed the 2022 Yamaha Motorcycle was traveling westbound on Carson Street in lane #2 behind another vehicle. A 2007 Ford Edge exited Ostrom Avenue and attemptedto make a left turn onto Carson Street. The Yamaha Motorcycle changed lanes into lane #1 and into the Ford Edge.

On July 12, 2024, detectives were notified of the death of the motorcyclist.

The Los Angeles County Department of the Medical Examiner will identifythe decedent.
