Richmond County: 15th Street widening project requires lane configuration changes
[Link]
Augusta, Ga. - Crews are preparing to change the lane configuration of State Route 4/15th Street in Augusta as part of a project to widen the road from two lanes to four lanes.
On Thursday, the contractor began installing the topcoat of asphalt. In the coming weeks, drivers can expect the lane configuration of SR 4/15th Street to shift multiple times as crews ensure the entire project receives a fresh topcoat. The road will remain open to traffic in both directions.[Link]
Other construction items include concrete medians, signage, and pavement markings. We anticipate the project will be complete by October 2024. All work is weather dependent.
This work relates to the Transportation Investment Act (TIA) funded SR 4/15th Street widening project. Overall, this TIA project runs from Milledgeville Road to Government Road in Augusta.
Advisory: Work schedule is subject to change depending on weather conditions. Drivers are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones, stay alert, and watch for workers.
