Tuberville Helps Secure $550 Million Grant for I-10 Mobile River Bridge and Bayway Project

WASHINGTON - Today, U.S. Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) announced a $550 million federal grant for the I-10 Mobile River Bridge and Bayway Project. Senator Tuberville hasbeenworking with the U.S. Department of Transportation to secure this grant through the Bridge Investment Program for south Alabama since being sworn into office in 2021. The I-10 bridge, which was built more than 50 years ago, is over capacity due to considerable traffic levels. These factors highlight the dire need to update this critical infrastructure to meet current safety and regulation standards.

"Since I took office, I have been working to secure funding for the Mobile bridge and get this project underway," said Senator Tuberville. "The I-10 bridge is a critical evacuation route for hurricanes and natural disasters and a key economic driver in south Alabama. This crucial grant will help get this project off the ground and benefit every state on the I-10 corridor. I'm grateful that the Department of Transportation exceeded Alabama's request and recognized the critical importance of this project for the entire country. We look forward to partnering with the Alabama Department of Transportation to get this done."

Senator Tommy Tuberville represents Alabama in the United States Senate and is a member of the Senate Armed Services, Agriculture, Veterans' Affairs, and HELP Committees.
