City of Cape Coral Announces Temporary Closure of Chiquita Lock for FEMA Inspection

October 2, 2024

The City of Cape Coral will temporarily close the Chiquita Lock to all boat traffic for a required FEMA inspection, beginning on October 20, 2024. The lock will remain closed for approximately five days and is expected to reopen on October 25, barring any unforeseen circumstances.

The closure is necessary to dewater the lock for the inspection, which is scheduled to take place on October 22 and 23. The lock will be closed two days prior to and after the inspection to allow for proper preparation and restoration.

The City appreciates the community's patience and understanding during this period and encourages boaters to plan accordingly. Updates will be posted on the City's website and social media channels as they become available.
