Federal Emergency Management Agency Designates Six Iowa Counties as Primary Natural Disaster Areas Due to Severe Storms, Flooding, Straight-line Winds, and Tornadoes

Three Contiguous South Dakota Counties Also Eligible for Assistance

This Presidential disaster declaration allows the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) to extend much-needed emergency credit to producers recovering from natural disasters through emergency loans. Emergency loans can be used to meet various recovery needs including the replacement of essential items such as equipment or livestock, reorganization of a farming operation, or to refinance certain debts. FSA will review the loans based on the extent of losses, security available, and repayment ability.

Impacted Area: Iowa

Triggering Disaster: Severe Storm, Flooding, Straight-line Winds, and Tornadoes that occurred from June 16, 2024, through July 23, 2024.

Application Deadline: Feb. 24, 2025

Primary Counties Eligible: Clay, Emmet, Lyon, Plymouth, and Sioux

Contiguous Counties Also Eligible:

Iowa: Buena Vista, Cherokee, Dickinson, Kossuth, O'Brien, Osceola, Palo Alto, Pocahontas, and Woodbury

Minnesota: Jackson, Martin, Nobles, and Rock

South Dakota: Lincoln, Minnehaha, and Union
