Events happening in the City of Boston will bring some parking restrictions and street closures.
People attending these events are encouraged to walk, bike, or take public transit. Information on Bluebikes, the regional bike share service, may be found on the websiteand information on the MBTA may be found online. The MBTA advises riders to purchase a round-trip rather than a one-way ticket for a faster return trip. Walking is also a great way to move around.
Open Streets Newbury, Sunday, July 28, 2024
Open Newbury affords residents, visitors, and business owners to experience this vibrant street in a whole new way through a fun-filled day of walking, biking, skating, rolling, and family-friendly activities on a car-free street, which will require some temporary parking regulations on:
The intersections of Fairfield Street, Gloucester Street, and Hereford Street will be car-free. The remaining intersections will be open to vehicular traffic for public safety access and general vehicular traffic flow. Parking will be prohibited from 6 a.m. - 8 p.m. Any vehicles remaining after 6 a.m. will be towed.
Viva Colombia Festival- Saturday, August 10, 2024.
There will be a Colombian Independence Festival held on Border Street, in East Boston between Saratoga Street and Lexington Street. Parking restrictions will be in place from 11AM to 9 PM on the following street:
Run to Home Base - Saturday, July 27, 2024
The Annual Run to Home Base consists of a 5K race and a 9K race. Both start on Jersey Street and over their course will enter the City of Cambridge by way of the Massachusetts Avenue Bridge and then return to the City of Boston, ending by crossing home plate at Fenway Park. It expects 2,000 runners and 10,000 attendees. Rolling street closure should be anticipated.
Temporary parking restrictions will be in place on Saturday from midnight to noon at the following locations:

North End Procession, Saint Joseph Procession - Sunday, July 28, 2024
Starting at 467 Hanover Street, Head south on Hanover Street, Left onto Richmond Street, Left onto Commercial Street, Left on Lewis Street, Left onto North Street, Right into North Square, Left onto Prince Street, Left onto Hanover (Saint goes right to St. Leonard Church), Right onto Cross Street, Right onto Salem Street, Left onto Cooper Street, Right onto Endicott Street, Right onto Causeway, Right onto Prince Street, Left onto Salem Street, Right onto Charter Street, Left On Henchmen, Right on Commercial, Right onto Hanover Street St Joseph and St Agrippina Clubs, Battery Street (Saint to Madonna Cava Club) and All Saints way, Left onto Hanover to firehouse and Prado, Left onto Clark, Right onto North, Right onto Fleet, Right on Hanover, back to St. Joseph Society at 467 Hanover Street. Procession starts 1PM.
North End Feast, Saint Agrippina - July 31 to August 4, 2024
The season for the feasts in the North End section of Boston is arriving and it starts with the Feast of Saint Agrippina, which is scheduled to take place from August 1, 2024 to August 4, 2024 with setup on Wednesday, July 31, 2024.
Parking restrictions will be in place from Wednesday through Sunday on the following streets:
North End Feasts, Madonna Della Cava - August 8 to August 11, 2024
The second North End feast of the season is hosted by the Society of the Madonna Della Cava and uses the same area as the Saint Agrippina Feast, it begins on Friday, August 9, 2024 and ends on Sunday, August 11, 2024, with setup taking place on Thursday, August 8, 2024.
Parking restrictions will be in place from Thursday through Sunday on the following streets:
Fisherman's Feast - Wednesday, August 14, 2024 through to Sunday, August 18, 2024
The third North End feast of the season will be the Fisherman's Feast set up will begin on Wednesday. Parking restrictions will be in place from Wednesday through Sunday on the following streets:
Saint Anthony - Saint Lucy Festival - Wednesday, August 21, 2024, through Monday, August 26, 2024
The annual Saint Anthony - Saint Lucy Festival will occur in the same locations within the North End as in the past, with set-up beginning on Wednesday, August 21, 2024.
Parking restrictions will be in place from Wednesday through Monday on the following streets:
Summer of Love, Washington Street, Nubian Square - Saturday, July 27, 2024
There will be the Summer of Love event on Washington Street in Nubian Square which will require the street to be closed and a temporary parking restriction to be in place on:
Puerto Rican Parade & Festival - Sunday, July 28, 2024
The annual Puerto Rican Parade will be held on Sunday, July 28, 2024 starting at 12 PM
along the following route: Columbus Avenue at Cedar Street, to Seaver Street to Blue Hill
Avenue to Franklin Park Road to North Jewish War Veterans Drive, to Circuit Drive to
Piedmont Drive.
Parking restrictions will be in place on the following streets:
The Sumner Tunnel Restoration Project is a $160 million investment in the Commonwealth's infrastructure.
To achieve this work,the Sumner Tunnel will be closed from Friday, July 5, through Monday, August 5, 2024.
The Sumner Tunnel Restoration Project will offer a variety of mitigation options for individuals coming from all travel points.
