City of Grand Junction Issues Call for Artists to Create Art for 24 1/2 and F 1/2 Roundabout

The City of Grand Junction has announced a call for artists interested in creating unique public art for the traffic roundabout at the intersection of 24 ½ Road and F ½ Road. The deadline to submit proposals to the city's Commission on Arts and Culture is Friday, November 1, 2024, and the installation deadline is August 2025. Detailed information about submitting proposal

The city's Commission on Arts and Culture is seeking artwork for the roundabout that is fresh and modern, abstract and colorful, vibrant, and unique, and that includes creative versions of landscapes and flora.

Artists are offered a three-month process during which to assemble proposals for this project. Interested artists are encouraged to apply by submitting a letter of interest, resume, proposal, and annotated images of original representative work to Haley Van Camp, Arts and Culture/Recreation coordinator at [email protected]. The selection panel will consist of representatives from the city's Engineering and Transportation Department and the Commission on Arts and Culture.

Funding for this project comes from the city's 1 percent for the Arts Program. This program expands opportunities for residents and visitors to experience high-quality art by facilitating the acquisition and display of art in public places by budgeting 1 percent for public art from certain city capital improvement projects.

The Grand Junction Commission on Arts and Culture is dedicated to helping create and nurture a climate and conditions in Grand Junction in which the arts and culture can thrive and grow.
