One Man Killed and Three Others Injured in Saturday Evening Crash at Knight and Ewing Drives

Saturday evening's crash involving a Chevrolet Impala sedan and a FedEx tractor-trailer at the intersection of Knight and Ewing Drives killed the driver of the Impala and injured three others, including two minors, ages 3 and 15.

The deceased is identified as Richard E. Frazer, 48. His three passengers, a 36-year-old woman and her two children, were taken to Vanderbilt. The 3-year-old's injuries are life threatening.

The preliminary investigation shows that the tractor-trailer was traveling north on Knight Drive approaching Ewing Drive. The Impala was traveling west on Ewing Drive. It appears from roadway and video evidence that the Impala did not stop at the stop sign and attempted to make a left turn onto Knight Drive in front of the tractor-trailer. The truck braked and then collided with the driver's side of the Impala. Frazer had to be extricated. He was transported to Skyline Medical Center where he died shortly after arrival. The 61-year-old truck driver was not injured.

There were no signs of impairment at the scene on the part of either driver. No charges are anticipated in this fatal crash.
