Duckworth, Durbin Announces $5.2 Million in Grant Funding for Head Start in West Central Illinois

[SPRINGFIELD, IL] - U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL) and U.S. Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) today announced that Parent & Child Together for West Central Illinois in Camp Point, Illinois, will receive $5,220,433 in U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) grant funding to support the organization's Head Start programming, which offers services for children under the age of five in receiving wrap-around support in early learning and development.

"Education is one of the greatest gifts we can give the next generation. This Head Start funding will support children in West Central Illinois and provide them with the skills to be successful when they enter kindergarten," said Durbin. "I take my role as an advocate for children seriously, and I will continue to work to bring federal funding home to Illinois."

"Every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential, which is why it's so important that programs like Head Start have the resources they need to support Illinois children and families," Duckworth said. "I'm proud to work with Senator Durbin to continue supporting our early childhood education and parental support programs as they prepare the next generation of students in West Central Illinois to succeed both in and outside the classroom."
