Roxborough Memorial Hospital and Roxborough School of Nursing Honor Good Neighbor Day

Philadelphia, PA (September 26, 2024) - Roxborough Memorial Hospital, alongside the Roxborough School of Nursing, celebrated Good Neighbor Day by offering a variety of complimentary health services in the morning. Attendees had access to flu vaccinations, health screenings that encompassed glucose testing, blood pressure monitoring, heel scans for bone density assessment, provider consultations, education on infection prevention through handwashing, medication take-back initiatives, and informative sessions on stroke and wound care. The event also featured vendor booths, door prizes, and a selection of food and refreshments.

A highlight of the Good Neighbor Day festivities was the participation of our partner, Keystone First, which brought a mobile bus offering chair yoga and massages, promoting relaxation and wellness for the community.

"We take immense pride in serving our community, and hosting an annual health fair allows us to embody our mission in a lively and interactive manner," stated Shawn Parekh, CEO of Roxborough Memorial Hospital and Roxborough School of Nursing. "Our commitment to enhancing the health of Philadelphia County drives us to provide wellness education and resources that foster improved health outcomes."

Parekh expressed his gratitude for the community's support and extended special thanks to RAMM Inc. for their generous contribution toward the event. "Everyone at Roxborough Memorial Hospital and Roxborough School of Nursing is honored to collaborate with RAMM Inc., Keystone First, and various partners to prioritize health awareness in this vital area of Philadelphia."

In addition to local residents, the event welcomed State Representative Tarik Khan of Philadelphia's 194th Legislative District, as well as representatives from county and local governments and non-profit organizations.

"Our dedication to the community remains steadfast. Good Neighbor Day has been a cherished tradition for over a decade, and our flu program has been active for over 25 years. Our aim is to motivate the community to take charge of their health and prioritize preventive care," remarked Kelly Salvatore, Dean of Education at the Roxborough Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. "Preventive care is crucial as it keeps you healthy and ensures timely treatment when needed."

Salvatore concluded, "I am incredibly proud of our nursing students and their unwavering commitment to addressing the healthcare needs of our community."
