Osceola Foods employees sign for SWCC applied engineering technology program

Creston - Representatives from Southwestern Community College (SWCC) were on-hand Aug. 13, at Osceola Foods, a local manufacturing facility owned by Hormel Foods Corporation (NYSE:HRL), to sign four Osceola Food employees for SWCC's applied engineering technology program. In addition, five students will be returning for the second year of SWCC's program.

Osceola Foods employees selected for the training include Brian Heath, Christopher Riggs, Johnathan Watkins, and Jose Ruiz. Jesse Taggart, Jose Regalado, Michael Glawe, Joseph Kreuger, and Jonathan Day will be returning for their second year of SWCC applied engineering technology courses.

These individuals went through a rigorous in-house screening and testing process at Osceola Foods to qualify to be sponsored by the industry in SWCC's applied engineering technology program. The students start classes at SWCC on Wednesday, Aug. 21, for the fall 2024 semester.

Formerly called industrial technology, the applied engineering technology program at SWCC trains individuals to develop skills in various areas of manufacturing and troubleshooting while looking on from an engineering perspective. Students in the program hone their skills in hands-on labs such as welding, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatics, and blueprint reading. By the end of the two-year program, students are able to analyze and troubleshoot complete system operation, recognize failures, and impact efficiencies.
