WSOC-TV, Charlotte's top-rated TV station, won a National Edward R. Murrow award for Best Newscast for its 6 p.m. ET newscast. The station earned this recognition for its outstanding coverage of the city's Southpark Fire.

"Winning this award is the result of a total team effort," said Cedric Thomas, VP and General Manager of WSOC-TV. "Every person in the news department worked together to deliver a powerful remote newscast that demonstrated how "We Serve Our Community" (WSOC) in times of crisis. We're honored to be one of America's best newscasts.

WSB Radio in Atlanta also earned a national Murrow award for Best Newscast. The win for Atlanta's Morning News showcases its ongoing commitment to storytelling and the in-depth reporting and news coverage that impacts our listeners.
