New 'Skate Spot' at Ivywild Park Offers Opportunities for Recreation in Southeast Boise

October 2, 2024

Boise Parks and Recreation is on a roll with the addition of the city's newest skate feature at Ivywild Park. The so-called "skate spot" offers opportunities for people of all ages on wheels of all kinds to recreate in a previously underutilized area of the community park, which is located off S. Leadville Avenue.

The new feature was made possible through a partnership with the Boise Skateboard Association and was funded in part through Boise's Energize Our Neighborhoods Neighborhood Investment Program.

"We are always looking for ways to enhance Boise's parks and draw residents of all kinds to experience the benefits of outdoor recreation in their neighborhoods," said Mayor Lauren McLean. "As we continue to work toward our goal of every resident living within a 10-minute walk to a park, new features like this within an already loved park space allow us to provide more ways for Boiseans to enjoy their time outside."

The spot features a sidewalk with a metal rail, a box for skating and rolling, curbs and a hip and quarter pipe. It was designed and built by Grindline Skateparks with a variety of wheeled uses in mind including skateboarding, biking, roller-skating and users on non-motorized scooters.

"This is a unique community space that continues to support the growing sports of skateboarding and BMX in our community," added Boise Parks and Recreation Director Doug Holloway. "With more than 90 parks across the City of Boise, it's our goal to continue finding ways to offer new and exciting experiences for residents when they visit a local park."

Ivywild Park is open daily from sunrise to sunset. The skate spot is located between Ivywild Pool and the softball field.
