Yorkshire and Humber Regional Crime Unit Launches its Annual Cyber Switch Up Competition

Yorkshire and Humber Regional Crime Unit proudly launches its annual Cyber Switch Up competition. <_o3a_p>

Cyber Switch Up is a digital and cyber skills competition aimed at students aged 11-18 years old in key stages 3, 4 and 5, which is open to students in all secondary schools and colleges across the Yorkshire and Humber region. <_o3a_p>

The competition aims to:

<_o3a_p>

  • Showcase the digital and cyber skills and talent of student across the Yorkshire and Humber region <_o3a_p>

  • Educate and promote digital and cyber pathways for higher and further education <_o3a_p>

  • Raise awareness of the diverse digital and cyber career pathways available to young people <_o3a_p>

  • Encourage positive and lawful cyber behaviours in young people. <_o3a_p>

Students can sign up to take part in the competition now via our website and complete the short online qualifier between 1 and 20 October. <_o3a_p>

The top performing pupils in KS3, 4 and 5 will then be invited to the live final event on 26 November at Sheffield Hallam University city campus with a chance to win trophies and prizes for themselves and their school/college.

Detective Inspector Richard Wallis of the Yorkshire & the Humber Regional Organised Crime Unit, said: "We're really looking forward to this year's competition and see what new and emerging talent we can find across the Yorkshire and Humber region. <_o3a_p>

"We will have a variety of keynote speakers from digital and cyber industries and academia who will be sharing important information and raising awareness of the diverse career pathways to young people and in further education, along with interactive exhibition stands to enable students and teachers to get hands on with the latest technologies. <_o3a_p>

"I would encourage all those who are eligible to register to take part in the online qualifier and hopefully make it to the live final event."
