Print Copies of Midland City Modern Master Plan Available for Purchase

September 6, 2024 - Midlanders can own a piece of community history as the City of Midland has announced that printed copies of its Midland City Modern Master Plan are now available for purchase.

Designed to read more like a magazine than a traditional government planning document, Midland City Modern includes an overview of Midland's distant past and recent history during the plan's creation; deep dives into the community's local economy, natural environment, and current and future land use and transportation plans; deep assessments of current demographics and future trends and challenges for Midland and the Great Lakes Bay Region; and goals for implementation the infrastructure and utilities, the local economy, health and well-being, and energy and environment.

Copies of Midland City Modern can be purchased for $10 via cash, check, or Visa and Mastercard credit cards at the Treasurer's office inside City Hall (333 W. Ellsworth Street) or the Circulation Desk at the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library (1710 W. St. Andrews Road).

"Midland City Modern is the culmination of thousands of pieces of public input from Midlanders of all ages, abilities, and walks of life, so it's an honest look at who we are now and where we want to go in the future," said Assistant City Manager for Development Services Jacob Kain. "This plan was created not just to be read, but enjoyed and shared. It has big photos, fun elements, and easy-to-understand language. It belongs to each and every person who calls Midland home and we believe it's representative of that."

The City's Master Plan serves as the City's official policy guide and strategy for community improvements and development over the next 30 years. Master plans help maintain a consistent vision in cities while directing redevelopment and change, increasing livability and neighborhoods, and transforming it into a more sustainable, innovative, accessible, attractive, and economically vibrant community.
