Surbrook Receives City Strive Award for Customer Service Excellence

September 6, 2024 - The City of Midland is excited to announce that it has recognized Resident Activity Coordinator Eileen Surbrook as its latest recipient of a City Strive Award.

Surbrook received the Customer Service Excellence Award, which recognizes an individual for performing exceptional customer service for citizens that exceeds their expectations and enhances public perception of the City and/or exceptional internal customer service for co-workers and peers that enhances the quality and morale of the workplace.

Eileen received 50 nominations from residents at Riverside Place Senior Apartments for her dedication to providing accessible, fun, thoughtful activities for residents. Continue reading for a few excerpts from these nominations.

"Eileen has been an activities rock star since she joined Riverside Place about one year ago. She took an already vibrant activities program and elevated it to the next level. She is creative and provides unique experiences for the residents. She ensures that there is a variety of programming that meets the many different individual needs in our community to help drive intellectual, physical, emotional, spiritual, and purposeful growth. The residents are so enthusiastic about Eileen's passion that she now has a wonderful group of volunteer residents that help shape activities and put them together."

"She is an amazing planner. Activities are fun and easy for everyone. She is always cheerful and helpful. She works odd hours to ensure we are entertained."

Eileen Surbrook has worked for the City since 2022.

"One of the many benefits of our senior housing communities is the wide variety of activities and programs available to residents, and Eileen has taken that offering to the next level," said City Manager Brad Kaye. "She creates interesting, engaging activities that residents look forward to and has developed deep personal connections with the people she serves every day. She makes living at Riverside Place a memorable and fun experience for our residents."
