HONG KONG, July 1 -- To celebrate the 27th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to China, the Chinese PLA Hong Kong Garrison held an open day event from June 29 to 30. During the two days, the Chinese PLA Hong Kong Garrison's Ngong Shuen Chau Barracks, Shek Kong Barracks and San Wai Barracks were open to the public.

At 10 a.m. on June 29, a national flag-raising ceremony was held at the Shek Kong Barracks, following by military band performance, boxing and other subject demonstrations.

During the two-day open day event, some of the garrison's weapons and equipment attracted many Hong Kong residents. Children boarded naval ships, observed armored vehicles, experienced simulated shooting, and took photos with the servicemembers assigned to the Hong Kong garrison.

The PLA Hong Kong Garrison Exhibition Center became a popular venue during the event, and was acclaimed for its comprehensive and diverse exhibitions by visitors. Many Hong Kong residents learned about the development process of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the country and the PLA during the tour.

This year marks the 33rd time that the PLA Hong Kong Garrison has held an open day event, which has received over 800,000 Hong Kong residents over the past 27 years. The event allows more citizens, especially young people, to enter the barracks and get a deeper understanding of the motherland and the PLA.
