Brown Calls on the Biden Administration to Reverse Its Decision to Deny Disaster Declaration in 8 Southeastern Ohio Counties

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Following the Biden Administration's initial decision to deny a disaster declaration for the 8 Southeastern Ohio communities affected by severe weather in April, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) called on President Biden to reverse course and provide much-needed assistance. His letter follows Governor Mike DeWine's appeal of the decision. The declaration would allow FEMA to provide additional resources to help Ohio communities in Belmont, Monroe, Jefferson, Guernsey, Noble, Washington, Morgan, and Meigs counties recover from the damage. Brown previously called on the Administration to approve Governor DeWine's initial request for a disaster declaration.

"These Ohioans need federal recovery assistance. I have previously asked you to work with local officials and the state of Ohio to answer any questions you may have about the scope of the damage. Now that Governor DeWine has appealed and provided additional documentation, I urge you to act swiftly and work with the Governor and impacted counties to provide the resources necessary to aid the region in its recovery. I fully support Governor DeWine's request and urge your prompt reconsideration. Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter," wrote Senator Brown.

The letter is available HERE.
