The sessions are designed to inspire actionable change, helping you revise and enhance your own organization's safety policies and protocols.
Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) is proud to host the Safety Conference on Wednesday, Dec. 11, which will bring together safety professionals, industry leaders and workplace advocates to share critical strategies and resources for enhancing safety across industries. The conference will be held from 8 am - 3:30 pm in the Conference Center at the NICC Peosta campus.
The day begins with an unforgettable keynote address by Brad Livingston, whose life-changing experience highlights the dire consequences of workplace complacency. Brad's story is a profound call to action for all safety professionals, emphasizing the importance of vigilance and prevention in maintaining safe work environments.
Workplace safety has improved dramatically over the years. According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), worker injuries and illnesses have decreased from 10.9 incidents per 100 workers in 1972 to 2.7 per 100 workers in 2022-a testament to the power of preventive measures. However, there's still work to be done. This conference provides attendees with the tools and knowledge to contribute to this ongoing progress.
You will participate in breakout sessions led by industry experts, covering topics such as OSHA updates, risk management strategies and practical tools to create safer workplaces. These sessions are designed to inspire actionable change, helping you revise and enhance your own organization's safety policies and protocols.
The conference concludes with live safety demonstrations at the National Education Center for Agricultural Safety (NECAS), located on the NICC Peosta campus. Agriculture remains the most dangerous occupation in the United States and NECAS plays a vital role in addressing this challenge. From cutting-edge safety techniques to life-saving equipment, NECAS training programs are making a difference nationwide.
