Behind The Badge 4th Quarter Episode

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - (October 4, 2024) - The Murfreesboro Police Department School Resource Officers joined multiple first responders in Rutherford County for an active shooter training back in August hoping to never have to use what they learned. The latest episode of 'Behind The Badge' with Public Safety Information Director Larry Flowers also features new gunshot detection technology, and a final ride for a police detective who made history two years ago.

'Behind The Badge' is airing on Murfreesboro City TV throughout the upcoming months and features:

  • School Safety Division School Resource Officers teaming up with other first responders for an active school shooter training.
  • Gunshot detection sensors are being installed across the City of Murfreesboro. The technology is part of the Real Time Crime Center.
  • CID Detective Julia Cox and her daughter made history two years ago becoming the first mother-daughter duo to work at MPD. Before retiring Cox took one final ride on patrol.
  • Recruiting former military members as new officers.
