State Police arrest Schenectady man following Thruway pursuit

On October 28, 2024, State Police of Troop T, SP Albany and Troop G, Latham BCI arrested Nashaan A. Howard, 40, of Schenectady, NY, for:

  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 1st
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd
  • Reckless Endangerment 1st
  • Tampering with Physical Evidence
  • Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer 3rd
  • Numerous Vehicle and Traffic Law violations

On October 28, 2024, at about 7:29 p.m., Troopers attempted to stop a vehicle being driven by Howard on I-87(Thruway) in Bethlehem, NY, when Howard failed to comply with the stop, and a pursuit was initiated. Howard was observed driving recklessly at a high rate of speed and discarding items from the vehicle during the pursuit. Despite Howard's attempts to evade the stop,Troopers successfully deployed a tire deflation device, disabling his vehicle on I-87 in Albany, NY, where Howard was taken into custody without incident. Further investigation recovered more than two kilograms of packaged Cocaine Howard had allegedly thrown from the vehicle during the pursuit (photographed below).

Howard was transported to SP Albany for processing and then to the Albany County Correctional Facility to await arraignment. On October 30, 2024, he was arraigned at the Albany City Court, where he was remanded to the Albany County Correctional Facility without bail.
