Erie County - The Tonawanda City School District, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Tonawanda City School District will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The action involves the Tonawanda City School District (the "District") proposes to undertake a capital improvements project named "TONA2024 MS/HS Building Infrastructure and Enhancement Capital Improvement Project" which includes various renovations and upgrades at the District's Middle / High school building, facilities, and campus.
Proposed renovations of interior building spaces include the 6th grade wing, science rooms including computer room, and main office at the Middle School; art rooms, special education / life skills classroom, and pool locker rooms showers at the High School; and restrooms in both schools. Renovations will include upgraded ceilings, flooring, walls, interior doors, finishes, casework, and asbestos abatement. Other renovations to address code, health, safety, and accessibility requirements may include upgraded fire alarm system and interior doors; auditorium stage rigging system, sound system, and ADA stage lift; expansion of emergency and exit lighting; backlit exterior signage; interior signage; separation of emergency and standby loads on generator system; upgraded main electrical switch board; and upgraded natatorium structural deck. Proposed upgrades to building systems include modernized HVAC equipment upgrades such as select classroom and rooftop ventilation units, air handling units, exhaust fans, controls, and split systems. Proposed plumbing upgrades include domestic hot water plant equipment, storm water piping, a portion of the sanitary sewer, and various asbestos abatement. Electrical upgrades may include various equipment including branch power panels.
Proposed building exterior envelope work includes items such as roofs, windows, exterior façade reconstruction including new metal panels with windows, curtainwall system, lighted soffit band, exterior signage, exterior doors and entrances, and building-mounted light fixtures. Proposed site work includes select parking area and sidewalk upgrades, additional site lighting, surface upgrades at the tennis courts and track, and replacement of synthetic turf and infill at the stadium athletic field. The project is located at Tonawanda Middle / High School 150 Hinds Street, in the Town of Tonawanda, New York.
