Gouverneur male arrested stemming from a domestic dispute

On September 10, 2024, State Police members arrested Theron A. Pankey, age 47, of Gouverneur, NY, for criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation.

On September 10, 2024, at approximately 12:05 a.m., Troopers responded to W. Main Street in the village of Gouverneur for a domestic dispute. An investigation determined Pankey and the victim were involved in a verbal argument that turned physical when Pankey started throwing items, placing his hands around the victim, causing the victim to choke, dragging the victim to the ground, and began punching the victim. The victim was able to get away from Pankey and contacted law enforcement.

Pankey fled the scene but was later located by Troopers. Pankey was arrested and transported to SP Gouverneur for processing. He was arraigned in the Town of Gouverneur Court, where he was released on his own recognizance.
