WHAT: Partners will host a Drug Take-Back, Electronics Recycling, and Document Shredding Event

WHERE: Canterbury Shopping Center, 3039B W. 159th St., Markham, IL

WHEN: Saturday, July 27, 2024, from 9 a.m. to noon

Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD) President Kari K. Steele and Vice President Patricia Theresa Flynn in collaboration with 5th District Cook County Commissioner Monica Gordon and Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart will host a community service day on Sat., July 27 from 9 a.m. to noon rain or shine. This event will take place at 3039B W. 159th St., Markham, IL, and feature a drug take-back, electronics recycling, and document shredding service, promoting environmental sustainability and public safety.

This event offers community members a safe and convenient way to dispose of unused or expired medications, recycle unwanted electronics, and securely shred personal documents. These services are provided free of charge to promote responsible waste disposal and protect personal information.

Residents are encouraged to bring the following items for proper disposal:

  • Medications: Prescription and over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, and other medications (no needles or sharps).
  • Electronics: Computers, monitors, printers, TVs, cell phones, and other small electronic devices.
  • Documents: Personal and sensitive documents for secure shredding.
