Ulrik Nødgaard appointed new Governor of Danmarks Nationalbank

Danmarks Nationalbank's Board of Directors has elected Ulrik Nødgaard as the new Governor and member of the Board of Governors. Ulrik is 54 years old and comes from a position as CEO of Finans Danmark.

"Danmarks Nationalbank's Board of Directors is pleased to announce that we have appointed Ulrik Nødgaard as the new Governor of Danmarks Nationalbank. Ulrik is a great capacity who comes with a solid macroeconomic foundation and a deep insight from the financial sector, the regulation of the sector and the development of the payment infrastructure. In addition, Ulrik has considerable experience with major IT projects and operation of the banks' clearing systems. Ulrik is also an experienced leader with strong strategic and communicative skills," says Christian Schultz, Chairman of Danmarks Nationalbank's Board and Committee of Directors.

Ulrik Nødgaard holds an MSc in Economics from Aarhus University and a master's degree from the University of Warwick. He comes with many years of experience from the financial sector and has previously been Director General of the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority and Director at the Ministry of Economic and Business Affairs. In addition, he has held various leadership roles in the government administration within both financial regulation and macroeconomics.

Ulrik Nødgaard will take up his position on 15 August 2024. He succeeds Per Callesen, who will take up a project position at the University of Copenhagen on 1 September 2024 as part of a research collaboration with Danmarks Nationalbank.

Ulrik Nødgaard joins the Bank's Board of Governors together with Governor by royal appointment Christian Kettel Thomsen and Governor Signe Krogstrup. In this connection, he will be responsible for the departments of Financial Stability, Business Services and IT and Digitalisation.
