City Continues to Monitor Storm Beryl

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - The City of Corpus Christi is closely monitoring Storm Beryl, which is currently moving northwest at 13 mph over the southwest Gulf of Mexico. Beryl could strengthen into a hurricane before making landfall on Monday morning.

Warnings and Watches:

Hurricane Warning has been issued for Nueces County.

Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Nueces County.

Storm Surge Warning is in effect from North Padre Island National Seashore to Sargent.

Impact Summary for the Coastal Bend:

Winds: Sustained winds of 60-80 mph with gusts reaching 100 mph are anticipated along the coast.

Storm Surge/Coastal Flooding: Areas may experience up to 6 feet of storm surge from Sunday through Monday.

Rainfall: The Coastal Bend may see 5-10 inches of rain, with isolated totals up to 15 inches. This could result in major flooding.

Tornadoes: Scattered tornadoes are possible, particularly in regions from Live Oak County to Nueces County.

Preparations and Recommendations:

Residents are strongly encouraged to finalize their emergency plans and secure loose outdoor items. The City will provide additional weather updates tomorrow after receiving a weather briefing from the National Weather Service.
