Detectives Investigating Fatal Collision in Interbay

Seattle Police detectives are investigating a fatal collision in the Interbay neighborhood Friday night.

At 10:46 p.m., patrol officers responded to reports of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of 15th Avenue West and West Garfield Street.

The Seattle Fire Department (SFD) arrived on scene and pronounced the adult male victim deceased.

The other driver, 32, was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert and exhibited no signs of impairment. He was treated by SFD for minor injuries and transported to Harborview Medical Center.

Police determined that Toyota Corolla was traveling northbound on 15th Avenue West at a high rate-of-speed. The vehicle slid sideways and collided with a Toyota Camy traveling southbound causing the Corolla to flip onto its side.

Both vehicles sustained significant damage.

Police and the Seattle Department of Transportation cordoned off the area and assisted with traffic control.

Detectives with the Traffic Collision Investigations Squad arrived and processed the collision scene.
