Port Henry male arrested for eavesdropping

On September 16, 2024, State Police members arrested Joseph A. Olds, age 36, of Port Henry, NY, for eavesdropping, possession of an eavesdropping device, harassment 2nd, and criminal mischief 4.

On September 13, 2024, at approximately 4:56 p.m., Troopers responded to Broad Street in the town of Moriah for a domestic dispute. An investigation determined Olds and the victim were involved in a verbal argument, which turned physical when Olds struck the victim and tried to take the victim's cell phone. Further investigation determined Olds hid a phone in the victim's bedroom and recorded the victim without the victim's permission.

Olds was arrested and transported to SP High Peaks for processing. Olds was released on appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Moriah Court for a
