Fargo Fire Department and Fargo Police Department Respond to Numerous Incidents Related to Fireworks

The possession and use of fireworks within Fargo city limits is illegal

The Fargo Fire Department and The Fargo Police Department have responded to numerous fireworks-related incidents this week. To prevent injuries and property damage, the public is asked to refrain from using fireworks within Fargo city limits. The possession and use of fireworks within Fargo city limits is illegal. Persons found in violation of the ordinance are guilty of an infraction that carries a $100 fine. To learn more about the fireworks ordinance, visit FargoND.gov/Fireworks.

From Wednesday, July 3, through the morning of Friday, July 5, the FPD received 120 complaints regarding fireworks. During the same period, the Fargo Fire Department responded to 10 fires. The majority of the fires were directly attributed to fireworks use with several still under investigation; no injuries were reported. Additional details, including damage cost estimates, are not available at this time. The fire incidents were as follows:

1001 1st Ave. N. - Trash on a sidewalk intentionally set on fire
3026 Prairie Farms Circle S. - Hot tub fire caused by fireworks

July 4, 2024
20 Street North\40 Avenue North - Grass fire
2601 15th St. S. - Vehicle fire caused by fireworks
Atlantic Drive South\27th Avenue South - Dumpster fire caused by fireworks
734 19th St. N. - Outside trash fire caused by fireworks
3664 Elm St. N. - Building fire intentionally set in a restroom, caused by fireworks
